 Home Care Aides (HCA)

We are in search of empathetic and committed individuals to become part of our non-medical home care team as Home Care Aides. In this role, you will offer vital support to clients within their homes, helping them preserve their independence and dignity while they receive the necessary assistance.
Your responsibilities will include aiding with everyday tasks, offering companionship, and fostering the overall well-being of clients on a non-medical level.

**Responsibilities:**
1. Personal Care: Assist clients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, while respecting their privacy and dignity.
2. Mobility Assistance: Help clients with mobility limitations to move around their homes safely, including transferring from bed to chair, wheelchair assistance, and walking support.
3. Meal Preparation: Prepare nutritious meals and snacks according to clients' dietary preferences and restrictions, ensuring they receive adequate nutrition.
4. Medication Reminders: Remind clients to take their medications as prescribed by their healthcare providers but refrain from administering medication.
5. Companionship: Engage clients in meaningful conversations, accompany them on walks or outings, and participate in recreational activities to promote socialization and mental stimulation.
6. Light Housekeeping: Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as laundry, dusting, vacuuming, and tidying up common areas to maintain a clean and comfortable living environment.
7. Transportation: Provide transportation assistance to clients for medical appointments, grocery shopping, errands, and other outings as needed.
8. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of services provided, including daily activities, client interactions, and any changes in the client's condition, and report to the supervisor as necessary.
9. Safety Monitoring: Look out for any safety hazards in the client's home and take appropriate measures to prevent accidents or injuries.
10. Emotional Support: Offer emotional support and encouragement to clients and their families, providing reassurance and comfort during challenging times.

**Qualifications:**

1. Compassion and Empathy: Genuine concern for the well-being of others and the ability to empathize with clients and their families.
2. Reliability and Dependability: Punctuality, consistency, and the ability to fulfill commitments to clients and the agency.
3. Great Communication Skills: Clear verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and colleagues.
4. Physical Stamina: Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
5. Respect for Privacy: Respect for client confidentiality and the ability to maintain professional boundaries.
6. Valid Driver's License: Required for positions involving transportation of clients.
7. Criminal Background Check: Successful completion of a criminal background check and other screening requirements.
8. TB Test: Negative test in the last 2 years, renewable every two years.

**Preferred Qualifications:**
1. Previous Experience: Prior experience in caregiving, home health, or a related field. Dementia and Memory Care are huge bonuses!
2. Certification: Certification as a Home Health Aide (HHA), Home Care Aide (HCA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or similar credential is a plus.
3. First Aid/CPR Certification: Training in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is beneficial.

**Working Conditions:**
- Schedule: Flexible scheduling options available, per-diem positions.
- Environment: Work primarily takes place in clients' homes/facilities, which may vary in terms of cleanliness, accessibility, and safety.
- Physical Demands: The job may involve lifting, bending, and assisting clients with mobility, which can be physically demanding.
- Hazards: Potential exposure to biohazards, communicable diseases, and household cleaning chemicals, requiring adherence to safety protocols and infection control measures.
- Emotional Demands: Providing care for individuals with physical or cognitive impairments can be emotionally challenging and may require coping strategies and support.

Salary: $20-$21 per hour, based on experience and location.
